NFS & NAS file storage
Design NFS file sharing for Unix and Linux clients. Add Samba-based SMB services for mixed environments where applicable, with customer-specific exports, authentication, permissions and management.
Use DilOS as an open-source foundation for customized NAS, SAN, data protection and private cloud storage. Extend its illumos and OpenZFS capabilities with management, security and protocol services matched to each deployment.
OpenZFS offers end-to-end checksums, copy-on-write snapshots, clones, compression, scrubs and send/receive replication. These primitives can help build resilient storage solutions when redundancy, backup, access controls and recovery procedures are engineered and validated for the workload.
Design NFS file sharing for Unix and Linux clients. Add Samba-based SMB services for mixed environments where applicable, with customer-specific exports, authentication, permissions and management.
Use ZFS volumes and storage services for iSCSI and Fibre Channel integration, subject to hardware, protocol stack and workload validation. Tune volblocksize and dataset properties for each application.
Build data protection workflows around snapshots, incremental ZFS send/receive, independent destinations and tested recovery. Snapshot policies, monitoring, automation and retention controls can be added.
Object storage can be part of a DilOS-based solution by integrating and validating a suitable S3-compatible service or gateway above the storage foundation. S3 is not presented as a built-in OpenZFS protocol or a guaranteed native DilOS feature. Compatibility, security, scaling and support depend on the chosen implementation.
Combine OpenZFS, network segmentation and workload isolation with purpose-built provisioning, tenant management, identity, monitoring and orchestration components.
Design self-hosted data services with customer-controlled deployment boundaries, software update paths and security policies. Sovereignty and compliance depend on the complete assessed solution.
DilOS combines an illumos kernel with a Debian-oriented userland and APT/DPKG packaging concepts. This can support source-based porting and configuration migration for selected Linux services, but does not provide automatic Linux binary compatibility. Evaluate dependencies, recompile or adapt packages, and validate data migration, performance and recovery.
